Rules That Shouldn’t Be Followed Part 3

Viva la resistance!

We are here again today to lead the fight against pointless rules.  You know what I mean.  The stupid things adults used to tell us to do even though they didn't make sense.  I'm not saying they didn't give us any good rules to live by.  They gave us plenty of those.  But amidst a lot of the good advice we got, were some turds of useless information that our brains just couldn't understand.  For me, one of them was: "hats off inside!"
This is easily one of the most pointless rules ever.  Wearing a hat inside is truly a victimless act.  Unless you're bringing a bomb into school, a bomb small enough to fit underneath your snug baseball cap.  Not likely, at least not for a kid working at McDonald's after school.  I mean, the whole hat rule was around way before 9/11 and Columbine and all that, so it can't be because of a safety issue right?  So for all intents and purposes, let's scratch that off the list.
Is it in some way impolite?  Or does it imply disrespect or some kind of lack of consideration for the setting you're in?  Me personally, I've never seen someone with a hat and thought "Oh, man, why can't this inconsiderate prick take off his hat?"  Honestly, it's something that barely rates.  It's one of those things that old people eyes have been trained to notice, and I bet they don't even know why.  Hell, when a hat goes well with your outfit, it can pull it all together quite nicely.  Not to mention if you're having a bad hair day.  What's worse, a messy head of hair over your dinner table, or a nice neat cap?  I think I may be on to something here.
How do you argue with that?
Now I didn't want to go here, but I couldn't help myself, so I'll briefly touch on it.  How come someone with "religious reasons" can wear whatever kind of lame hat they want anywhere they want?  The dinner table, the classroom, anywhere.  I mean, c'mon, I think most of my hats are more sensible than some religious ones, but I can't wear them inside or I'm some kind of animal.  Not targeting anyone specific, jus sayin'.
I said hats, not helmets…
I guess what I'm really saying is, what's the point?  If some hats are allowed in all settings, then they all should be.  Maybe minus Slash's hat, cuz that is completely ridiculous.  But in general, wearing hats inside is another one of those rules with an unknown origin that will make your mom or dad stutter and scream out "because I said so!!" when you question it.  And I say, force them to scream and stutter, we all deserve an explanation!
