EA Games has announced Need for Speed The Run, further diversifying the Need for Speed brand by taking the action to the streets “into an underground world of illicit, high-stakes racing.” The story mode of The Run has you racing cross-country from San Francisco to New York.
Need for Speed The Run is aiming for a November 15, 2011 launch in North America and November 17 in Europe for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and 3DS. The game is being developed by Black Box and utilizes DICE’s Frostbite 2 graphics engine, the same engine that powers Battlefield 3. As was the case with Hot Pursuit and Shift 2, The Run will make use of Autolog to connect racers around the world.
“This is the year that Need for Speed goes to the next level,” said Jason DeLong, Executive Producer at EA. “We think that Need for Speed The Run is going to surprise people with its intense, thrilling story and big action feel. But the game would be nothing without hot cars and crazy-fast chases. So that is what we’re delivering — explosive racing that will have players flirting with disaster at 200-miles an hour.”
