As we count down the weeks to "Miracle Day," the new season of "Torchwood" has started its promotional onslaught.
The long awaited fourth season of "Torchwood" reunites Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) as a new crisis unfolds. In an event dubbed "Miracle Day," everyone on Earth becomes seemingly immortal; including a convicted child murderer named Oswald (Bill Pullman) who survives his own execution and shares a mysterious connection to the power behind humanity's change.
TV Guide has published the first still photo from "Torchwood: Miracle Day" featuring Gwen and Captain Jack traveling with their new teammates, CIA agent Rex Matheson (Mekhi Phifer) and his colleague, Esther Drummond (Alexa Havins).
The official synopsis for the series has also been released, along with the first promotional poster.
Torchwood begins with a day when nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging, they get hurt and sick, but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month’s time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event — someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson (Phifer) investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?,” he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.
And if that's not enough, Barrowman recently spoke with Access Hollywood about the new season and what fans can expect to see.
"Torchwood: Miracle Day" will debut on Friday, July 8 on Starz.
