Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Formally Announced

Sony has now officially announced the much leaked, Super Bowl previewed Xperia Play phone from Sony Ericsson. Most of you know this as the PlayStation Phone.

The device was formally unveiled at Sony Ericsson’s MWC 2011 press conference yesterday. The Xperia Play will be coming first to the U.S. in March, flying on the wings of Verizon as its exclusive carrier.

Sony has said the device will launch with one “legendary” PlayStation 1 title pre-loaded, along with 50 other titles from 20 different publishers. Some of those games include Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield, Dead Space, EA Sports FIFA and Guitar Hero. Although, isn’t that last one dead?

And finally, Sony has released a full spec list for the Xperia Play. It’s a massive rundown of the Sony phone’s guts, so give it a gander. Thanks for the list, Kotaku!
