A few weeks ago I could honestly say I had no idea what Fortnite was, but today I am pretty aware that it’s a game that people are going nuts over. And what has me nuts and quietly crying at my desk? The fact that Tyler Blevins, who is better known as “Ninja” on Twitch, makes about $500,000 a month simply by playing Fortnite on Twitch.

According to CNBC, Blevins revealed that most of his insane monthly income comes from his 3.7 million Twitch followers. Blevins seriously just plays video games and people watch him do just that. Of course Blevins adds a bit of flare to it, but not $500,000 worth of flare. And yet. his personality and popularity are enough that Drake recently played with him, a session that led to a Twitch viewer record.

Here’s what Blevins had to say about his crazy income:

I’m very goofy; if you ever watched any of my streams or YouTube videos, I do impressions and stuff like that all the time and just crazy shenanigans. I think the combination of that [game skill and entertainment] is really fun to watch. The fact that it is free to play is super huge, and it’s already across all the [major] platforms. Just accessibility and how friendly the game is, they are just hitting every single mark perfectly.”

Kudos to this kid. Sure, it’s pretty ridiculous that he makes this much playing a game while the majority of people suffer at their desk, but hey, this is America: nothing is fair.
