Born in New York City to Elizabeth, a film producer and screenwriter and Sobieskis manager, and Jean, a French painter and actor, Liliane Rudabet Gloria Elsveta Sobieski aka Leelee Sobieski is an actress.
She has a younger brother. Leelee is a mix of Polish and Swiss ancestry.
She went on to study literature and fine art at Brown University. She also speaks fluent French. Though she claimed her family never had much money, she was raised in both France and the upscale Upper West Side and attended private school.
A talent scout at a New York City cafeteria discovered Leelee Sobieski as a girl. And though she auditioned for the part that eventually went to Kirsten Dunst in Interview with a Vampire, Leelee went on to land roles in Reunion, A Horse for Danny and Jungle 2 Jungle.
Other roles followed, including parts in Deep Impact, A Soldiers Daughter Never Cries, Never Been Kissed, but she rose to prominence with her appearances in Eyes Wide Shut and the title role Joan of Arc. At the age of seventeen, Leelee Sobieski earned a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination.

Leelee told Askmen.com, I did try to get a few of those teen high-school movies, but they just didnt like me. I guess I wasnt a certain type.
Leelee Sobieski appeared in Joy Ride, The Glass House, and Public Enemies, among others. TV appearances include shows such as The Good Wife and NYC 22.
In December, Leelee Sobieski gave birth to their daughter, Louisianna Ray Kimmel. She lives in a 4,800 square-foot Tribeca loft. She said about taking time off to be a mother and acting and marriage, Ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I dont want to do that. Leelee Sobieski also unplugs from the technology. Often compelled to capture every sweet moment of her child, she came to realize she hadnt been feeling them. I missed opportunities to connect with my daughter because my face was always hidden behind my cell phone. Now when I see something beautiful or funny or sweet, sometimes I reach for my camera, but other times I think, I need to let this moment exist. I dont have to capture everything.
