Kristen Norah Connolly is an actress and former tennis player. She is probably best known for her roles in the film “The Cabin in the Woods” and the Netflix TV series “House of Cards.”
Growing up in school Kristen had to choose between drama and field hockey. “I really wanted to play, but I wasn’t very good, but I liked the skirts. I was so excited to get cast in something as a freshman, I went with drama.”
Before she made a name for herself on stage and screen, she played tennis for a brief period.
After high school, Kristen Connolly went on to major in theater at Middlebury College. Once she graduated college, she took time off and considered going to law school, and then realized she only wanted to play a lawyer on TV. Yale School of Drama soon followed.
Shortly after Yale, she landed gigs on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Life on Mars,” “New Amsterdam” and “Nurse Jackie.” She also booked gigs on “Guiding Light” and “As the World Turns.”

Kristen Connolly loved being on a soap opera. “It’s almost like being in a play. It’s set up like a stage, you rehearse it, you shoot it and then you move on to something else. I had a ball.”
She also appeared on CollegeHumor digital shorts.
She said of “Cabin in the Woods,” her favorite monster was “the little ballerina. She’s so scary and I loved the little music box. Then of course the merman is just spectacular, especially because of Bradley Whitford’s performance.” She admitted, though, that she does watch that many monster movies.
Kristen Connolly said of her audition for “Cabin in the Woods,” “A lot of auditions are not fun; they’re just a necessary evil, and if you’re lucky, you have a few moments that are fun. This was real extraordinary. I didn’t want to leave the room.”
She added that filming was the hardest thing she’s ever done. “It was mostly the physical aspects of it, and staying in that place of fear for such long periods of time – I hadn’t really thought about that side of it before we started shooting.”
She recently appeared in the New York stage as Cordelia in “Lear” opposite Sam Waterson.
Kristen Connolly is married and lives in New York City.
