Karolina Kurkova is a Czechoslovakian model and actress. She is known best as a former Victoria's Secret Angel, and has appeared on TV shows such as "30 Rock" and "Person of Interest."
Karolina Isela Kurkova was born in Decin, Czechoslovakia on February 28, 1974. The daughter of a Czech basketball player, Karolina was often ridiculed as a child for her height. However, those who made fun of her would soon be eating their words, as a friend wound up sending photos of Karolina to a modeling agency in Prague, leading not only to her very first runway appearance at the age of 15, but being signed to a contract with Miuccia Prada as well. This would in turn lead to Karolina's biggest break: being featured in the September 1999 issue of U.S. Vogue. This appearance granted the young model exposure the likes of which any other model could only dream of.
Soon enough, after moving to New York, Karolina was gracing the cover of the same magazine's February 2001 edition, gaining her even more exposure than before. Not to mention, this made the gorgeous blonde one of the youngest models to be featured on the cover of Vogue in the magazine's history. In no time, Karolina would be seen in ad campaigns for such famous brands as Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, among numerous others. Soon after. she was named "Model of the Year" at the 2002 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, as well as featured on the cover of Vogue's September 2004 "Models of the Moment" edition.
Surely, with success and beauty of Karolina's caliber, it was only a matter of time before she made her move to the world of movies and television. Her big screen debut came in the 2007 dramedy, "My Sexiest Year," and was followed by a small role in 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." To top it off, she landed a recurring role on the TV series, "FCU: Fact Checkers Unit," as well as small parts on "Chuck," "30 Rock," and CBS' "Person of Interest."
