Izabella Miko is a Polish film and television actress. She is known best as Cammie from the 2000 film "Coyote Ugly," but has also starred on a number of series ranging from "Deadwood" to "Anger Management."
Izabella Anna Mikolajczak was born in Communist Poland (Lodz, Lodzkie, Poland to be exact) on January 21, 1981. Her parents were also accomplished actors by the names of Grazyna Dylag and Aleksander Mikolajczak. Unlike her parents, however, Izabella wasn't nearly as interested in acting as she was in dancing. Particularly fond of ballet, she took up craft at the age of 10 when she was accepted to the National Ballet School in Warsaw. While it would be an uphill battle considering instructors considered her to have flexibility limitations, by 15 she was not only an accomplished ballerina, but also received a full scholarship from the School of American Ballet in New York.
Sadly, by 1999, Izabella's worst fears were realized when she suffered from career-ending vertebrae, knee, and ankle injuries due to the rigorous training involved with being a professional ballet dancer. At a bit of a crossroads, she soon found a new path after returning to Poland when a casting director working with her parents granted her a small role in a TV movie. She enjoyed acting so much that she decided to move back to the U.S. to give her new career path a shot.
Fortunately, soon after moving to the U.S. and attending The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Izabella won herself a lead role in 2000's "Coyote Ugly," a breakout performance that got her career off to a strong start. From there, she continued to find steady work in both film and television alike. Almost 15 years later, she continues to thrive, having starred in films such as "Save the Last Dance 2" and "Clash of the Titans," as well as a laundry list of television series from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" to "Supernatural."
