Hilarie Burton is an American television and film actress. She is best known for her portrayal as Peyton on "One Tree Hill," as well as Sara Ellis on "White Collar."
Hilarie Ross Burton was born in Sterling, Virginia on July 1, 1982. The oldest of four children who were all brothers, she grew up very determined and hard-working. This was evidenced by her multiple achievements while attending Park View High School, which included being voted student council treasurer her sophomore year, vice president her junior year, president her senior year, captain of the cheerleading squad, and homecoming queen her senior year. Not bad for a girl with a Green Beret for a dad. After graduating in 2000, she went on to attend both New York and Fordham Universities.
As far as Hilarie's acting career is concerned, surprisingly as it may seem, she stumbled into it almost by accident. After winning MTV's "Who Wants to be a VJ?" contest her freshman year in college, a stint that was supposed to last for only a brief segment, producers loved her so much that they decided to turn it into a full-time job for the young college student. This, in turn, lead to Hilarie presenting at the 2000 "MTV Video Music Awards," which lead to a cameo as herself on "Dawson's Creek" in 2002, which then lead to being cast as Peyton on "One Tree Hill."
Since winning the role of her career, Hilarie has gone on to be very successful in the field of television. She has gone on to play significant roles on numerous popular series such as "White Collar" and "Grey's Anatomy," as well as well as star in TV movies like "Christmas on the Bayou" and "Surprised by Love."
