Hannah Tointon is an English television and film actress. She is known best for playing roles such as Katy Fox on the soap opera "Hollyoaks" and Tara Brown on the sitcom "the Inbetweeners."
Hannah Marie Tointon was born in Southend, Essex, England to parents Carol and Ken on December 28, 1987. Along with her older sister, fellow actress and model Kara Tointon, she attended St. Michael's School, Leigh, and St. Hilda's School, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex while living in Leigh, Essex, England. it was clear from a young age that Hannah had taken a shine to the craft of acting, and by the early 2000s, she began auditioning for roles in television.
Sure enough, by 2003 Hannah won her first official starring role as Tamsin on the sitcom, "Kerching!," where she played the love interest to the Taj character. She continued to star on the series for the next three years while still taking other small roles on series such as "Star," "The Bill," and "Murder City." After briefly taking on the role of Savannah on the series "Dream Team" (while still starring on "Kerching!," as well), Hannah was hired to play the role of Katy Fox on the popular soap opera "Hollyoaks" in 2007.
Although her "Hollyoaks" character was well-received, she quit the series within a year in order to pursue new opportunities, stating that it was her plan all along to leave after a year. Since then, she continued to book steady gigs on television series, most notably that of Tara Brown on the Channel 4 sitcom, "The Inbetweeners.". Interestingly, it was due to this role that she met her longtime boyfriend, Joe Thomas, who played the role of her character's love interest, Simon, on the series. In 2014, Hannah was added as a cast member on the series, "Mr. Selfridge," alongside her sister, Kara. This was the first time the two have been cast in the same production, and playing sisters at that.
