Abraham Woodhull may have escaped the hangman’s noose in the third season finale of Turn: Washington’s Spies, but the American Revolution is far from over. And the Culper Ring is facing its greatest threat yet, now that Benedict Arnold fulfilled his destiny by betraying Washington to the British and jeopardizing everything that he had previously fought for.
This weekend, Turn: Washington’s Spies will return to AMC with two back-to-back episodes as the series begins its final season. Abe’s quest to end British rule will take on an even more personal tone this season, as Arnold attempts to tear down and destroy his former allies. As for Washington himself, he has to keep his army together in the face of seemingly impossible odds.
In our exclusive preview scene from the fourth season premiere, Washington is given a possible solution to one of his problems by his wife, Martha, as played by Lilli Birdsell. And that call to action may prove to make all of the difference in the war effort.
Here’s AMC’s description for the fourth season premiere.
The ten-episode final season opens with notorious traitor Benedict Arnold (Owain Yeoman) taking his revenge on George Washington (Ian Kahn) by rounding up suspected rebel spies to impress his new British commanders. Meanwhile, Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell) and the other members of the Culper Ring escape Arnold’s clutches and unintended consequences compel Abe to seek revenge. For his side to prevail, he must forsake his bloodlust and turn his attention toward the one thing that truly matters: winning the war.
On the premiere, “Spymaster General,” Benedict Arnold rounds up spies in New York and Abe plots to destroy essential British supplies, but he will need his father’s help.
The fourth and final season of Turn: Washington’s Spies premieres on Saturday, June 17th at 9pm ET/PT with two back-to-back episodes.
